What is Espacio Handers?
Espacio Handers, located in the heart of Madrid’s Barrio de las Letras, is a dynamic space dedicated to art, architecture, and craft. Created by the architecture studio Handers, the gallery is run by artists and hosts a curated program of exhibitions and events showcasing contemporary art, architectural works, and artisanal crafts. Emphasizing process, material, and authorship, the space features both emerging and established practitioners, offering a platform for diverse artistic disciplines.
Situated near other contemporary art galleries and just a short walk from the Reina Sofía National Art Museum, Espacio Handers thrives within Madrid’s vibrant cultural scene. Meet the Art Director & Space Curator
My name is Rosanna Ryan. I’m a professional artist, a seasoned marketer, and a published author. Art has been at the core of my life for as long as I can remember—something I’ve lived and breathed since childhood.
Originally from the United States, I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the renowned Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, Georgia. After graduating, I moved to Spain, drawn by my Spanish heritage and a deep love for the culture. I’ve called Madrid home for the past 15 years.
Along the way, I took a detour from the art world to grow professionally in the field of marketing, eventually earning my master’s degree from ESADE Business School. That path, though unexpected, became essential—it gave me the strategic mindset and skills I now use to promote art, both my own and that of others.
A few years ago, I made the decision to return my focus to the art world. Running Espacio Handers is a natural extension of that commitment. My mission is simple: to champion and bring together creatives wholeheartedly—to support them in the way I would hope to be supported as an artist myself.
